How to create API credentials on Coinbase

Follow these simple steps to connect your Coinbase account to our software and import all your transactions into your CryptoBooks profile:

  1. Go to Coinbase and click on the profile icon at the top right corner

  2. click on Settings from the drop-down menu

  3. click on API from the menu on the left

  4. click on Create API Key

  5. in the pop-up window assign a name to your API (i.e. CryptoBooks API), then select default for portfolio from the drop-down menu and tick the box View (read only)

  6. now click Create & Download

  7. coinbase will show you the two keys created which you will need to copy and store in a safe place because you will not be able to retrieve them anymore

    1. API Key

    2. Private Key

  8. finally click on I've saved my key


How to insert API credentials on CryptoBooks

Follow these steps to easily connect Coinbase to CryptoBooks via API

  1. login into your CryptoBooks account and from the menu, select Connections

  2. click on the Add Connection button in the upper right corner

  3. click on the Coinbase Icon, you can use the Exchange API filter or type "Coinbase" in the Search Bar to find it easily

  4. choose a Name for your connection

  5. if you are a resident in Portugal or Spain, you'll be asked to choose the nationality of the intermediary. To know more, check this guide

  6. enter the API key and the API secret you copied from Coinbase

  7. finally click on the Create Connection button in the upper right corner of the page

  8. the sync between Coinbase and your CryptoBooks account will begin!
