What is the nationality of a connection?

The nationality of a connection refers to the country of the financial intermediary (such as an exchange or wallet provider) connected to your CryptoBooks account.

This information is required for accurate tax reporting and classification of your transactions, especially in countries like Portugal and Spain, where fiscal rules depend on the intermediary’s jurisdiction.

When to change the nationality

The nationality of the intermediary is a required field for certain countries, such as Portugal and Spain, to ensure the correct fiscal classification of your transactions and reports.

You may need to update this setting if:

  • you selected the wrong nationality when creating the connection

  • you moved your assets to an exchange with a different jurisdiction

  • your tax residence has changed and your reports must reflect it
